A2 G324 - Advanced Portfolio in Media

The purpose of this unit is firstly to assess candidates' abilty to plan and contruct media products using appropriate technical and creative skills (A03); secondly to assess candidates' apllication of knowledge and understanding in evaluating their own work, showing how meanings and responses are created (A02); and finally to assess candidates' abilty to undertake , apply and present appropriate research (A04).

Candidates will produce a media portfolio, comprising a main and ancillary texts:

  • A presentation of their research, comprising a main and ancillary texts:
The following briefs are:

  1. A promotion package for the release ofan album, to include a music promo video, together with two of the following option:
  • A cover for its release as part of a digipak (CD or DVD cover) ;
  • A magazine advertisement for the digipak
      2. A promotion package for a new film, to include a music promo videa, together with two of the       following options:
  • A film magazine front cover, featuring the film;
  • A poster of the film
      3. An extract from a new documentary TV programme, lasting approximately five minutes,
      together with two of the following options:
  • A double-page spread from a listing magazine focused on the documentary;
  • A newspaper advertisement for the documentary.
      4. A short flim in its entirety, lasting approximately five minutes, which may be live action or 
      animated or a combination of both, together with two of the following options:
  • Aposter for the flim;
  • A flim magazine review page featuring the flim.
