Draft on poster

This is a draft of my film poster, I have created it on photoshop to get a modern effect. I have used a number of techniques and enhanced the lighting on the picture to get more attraction towards the characters. I have aimed to get conventions of a film poster by adding the information below as well as the specific logo to represent the companies which sponsor the film. This is not perfect as a lot more work needed to be done to make this much more conventional. To improve this poster the font needs to be much more bold to attractive to the viewer as well as the images need to be more enhanced to get a full view of the characters. The background is plain and need more detail and a better chose of colour which anchors the story line.

Analysis of posters

Within this assignment I will be designing a poster; this will involve me doing further research into existing products from previous rom-com movies. I will analyse both previous and present poster to get a full understanding of the conventions which are used, also the ideologies of the characters positions and the layouts which are used.

Firstly I will analyse pretty women, from the dress code we can see that it is in the past in comparison to the other poster. The font it bold and dominant which this poster, the colour scheme is basic and doesn’t have no complicated effects to add on the idea of modern. The layout seems basic and shows a strong message of the women being in control this is co notated through the photography. The tagline is basic and doesn’t have much complication to understand what the film is about. Conventions towards this poster are that the main stars are stated and the companies which support this film are also stated but within this poster it is done in a non conventional way which we are used to seeing now.
This film poster looks much more post modern to 'Pretty women' the font is much slimmer which co notates elegant and sophistication, a similarity within the two posters are that the characters which are placed within the same position, this is a convention I will use within my film poster. The description is placed towards the bottom of the page which is also a convention I will follow within my own production. The colour scheme seems to consist of three colours which is something I believe would be important as I don’t want my production to be overly bright as it may seem to amateur.
The dress codes of the characters shows this film is targeted at the mature audience.
